やっと招待状の作成に入りました。アレックスが。私はふて寝してました。3時間。その間にせっせとデザインスケッチして、私の承諾のもとにイラストレーターで作成しております。ご苦労です。その横でブログしてますが。でも、たまに背後からチェックして「すごいねー。いいねー。才能あるねー」と褒めたたえております。いや、でも本当にかわいく出来てて完成が楽しみ♪　まだ、式の場所決まってないけど。

I have this huge color chips box. like thousands colors. (oh no, I didn't get this box for our wedding. I got this when I was an interior design major student. It has been sitting in my room for years. Thank god, I didn't get rid of it) and YES, it's FREE. yay!

I know our wedding budget is super small. $8,000.
But it is still not easy to squeeze this amout from our pocket.
We both are foreigners. which we have been spending a LOT of money for getting working visa.
(yes, we are LEGAL aliens :)

anyway, today's post is nothing to do with "wedding", but "money".
While saving money for the wedding, I still wanted shopping for my daily fashion.

スイーツ（日本ではこーやって言うんだよね？）バッフェっぽくしたいなぁと考えてます。ケーキスタンド安くても1個$20くらいするから、どーしよーかと思ってたらアレックスの教会に3つあった！ラッキー。まだ借りるお願いしてないけどね。

みんなが写真撮れるような場所を設けようと思って、Photoboothレンタル調べたら激高。こりゃムリだなと思ってたら、最近はみんな手作りでやってるみたい。レストランの1画にこんな風にかわいく作ってみるといいなぁ。にしても、ポラロイド高い～～！！生産再開しないのかな？

スライドショーを作ろうと思ってうちのおかんに写真送ってーってお願いしたら、山ほど入ってた。文字通り山のように。懐かしい・・・・おかんとねーちゃんと3人で暮らしてた時が懐かしくてちょっと昔に戻りたくなった。（いや、今がいやなわけじゃないよー）

スライドショー作るのめんどくさいから、こーやって飾るのもいいかなーと思って。Alexの子供の頃の写真は１００％白黒。レトロ。（小さい時は金髪青い目の子供だったよー。ビックリ。）

で、わざわざスキャンするの面倒だから。

3段ウェディングケーキとかは全く考えてないんだけど、ケーキの上にのっかる新郎新婦（？）をどーしよーかなーと考え中。一番上のシンプルなのもかわいいし、2番目のもなんかコロコロしててかわいい。両方、ウェディングドレスとかスーツの色とか髪の毛、人種までカスタマイズしてくれるらしい。でも、この昭和チックなのもなんかレトロでいいなぁ。値段安いし。

Wedding Shoes - a Word from the Groom

I (Alex) am a little excited about having found a pair of vintage Italian leather shoes that may very well become the shoes to go with my wedding suit. Yup, Kaori already mentioned my lucky discovery in an earlier post from last week, and now - having worn these babies for one week straight - I want to share a first picture:

Fortunately there's a beautiful huge tree behind B&G "supporsed to be" seating, so the location is perfect! done.

The problem is who and how hang those stuff, and how do we connect those?

しつこくこのライトの話をしてますが。もーこのライトをどーやって設置するのかにひたすら悩んで眠れない（そんなに？）ところ、いろいろ調べてたら自分で全部やったっていう花嫁さん発見！すごいわぁ、こういう人超尊敬する。私はこういうのをリサーチするのだけは得意だけどね。そして激安ランタンショップも見つけたし。何を隠そうみんな知ってるかもしれないけど、私は相当なせっかち。見つけたら即買わないと「なくなったらどうするの？」と心配で心配で。そしていろんなものを買ってはアレックスに「どこに置く気？」と言われます。今のとこなんとか部屋のいたるとこの隙間にいろんなものをつめこんでますが。

We did it!
Finally signed on a contract for a reception venue.
The manager of the restaurant is super-nice guy.
The price was slightly cheaper than first proposal. yay!!
He is very nice person, but sometimes very forgettable... :)
We have to make sure all foods and drinks we ordered will be there for our guests :))

wow, there're still many things to do.
Engagement session location hunt and ceremony location hunt on this weekend, 2 meetings (DOC and Pastor) in next week.

やっと最終的にデポジット入れて契約書にサインして披露宴のレストランを決めた～。
は～、やっと大事な二つ目（カメラマンは1ヶ月前に決めたし）が決定。　ってか、式の場所がまだ決まってない～。これもまた今週末に探しに行って、婚約写真の場所を下見、来週はコーディネーターとGregとそれぞれミーティング。　そう言えば未だドレスを見に行ってないし・・

As for first hunting, we did good job!

今日はローズボールのフリーマーケットへ。あ～1月とは思えない暑さでみんなタンクトップにビーサンだったよー。日焼けした。今日は結構いろいろと買い物できたから楽しかった～。念願のケーキスタンドも買えたし、花を生ける用のビンたちも買いました♪

アレックスも私も靴をそれぞれ買ったし。

フリーマーケット行って、結婚式のアイデアがお互いいろいろ沸いてきて楽しかったよん。

this and that

I am already freaked out. totally. even though we have 7 more months to go.
"I" am the only one freaked out.
Alex told me that I am pushing myself too hard and I should relax.
But, there are sooooooooooooo many little things I have to think about. I can't sleep, I mean, I am freaked out in my dream and I feel like half sleep and half awake.

I went to a couple of thrift/antique/junk stores on weekdays, but couldn't find anything.
We are going to Rosebowl flea market tomorrow. Hopefuly I could find stuff I am looking for.
We need to go back to a ceremony location we are interested most.
We need to go to the reception restaurant to sign a contract.
We need to start design our invitation and go take a look papers and supplies.

Seriously I want to know how DIY brides took care of their wedding. Now I am concidering to hire DOC(day of coordinator), otherwise I don't think I can sleep for looooong time. sigh.



結婚式の細かいことを考えてたら眠れなくて眠れなくて、アレックスは気にしすぎ～とか言うけど本気で当日どうする気なんだろ？ってイラっとしてくる。私たちには式場スタッフも誰もいないって分かってるんだろうか？ちょっと今コーディネーターを雇おうか考え中。

Finally

I encouraged myself to step on the scale today. Yes, it's 2010, it's time to face the reality.
The reality is.... gaining 23pound in last 1.5 year. wow!
It's not good, obviously.... I need to lose weight. I wouldn't say I will lose 23 pound in 7months, but at least 10pound... cross my finger (or just go to a gym).

アレックスと付き合い始めて1年半で23パウンド！！10キロちょっと？

あり得ん。まじで。今日、今年初ジム行ってきました。続きますように。

Flowers cost usually a LOT.
I am not planning to spend that much. I even consider to ask my neighbor me picking some from their front yard :) About bouquet, nahh, I'm still not sure if I order one or DIY.

But for table decor, i just go with simple flowers.

Invitations

Since many of our guests are from out of LA, we want to send invitations earlier than usual. maybe like 5-4 months ahead.
I really like letterpress invitations, then I googled once "affordable letterpress".
And result was... one website says, "looking for affordable letterpress invitations are like looking for cheap Gucci purse" or something like that, I believe...
Ok, so forget about "letterpress invitation".

招待状のことももうそろそろ考えないと・・・と焦ってます。日本やドイツのみんなにも送らないといけないので通常よりちょっと早めに送ろうかと思ってます。

にしても、高い！！レタープレスってやつ？凸版っていうの日本語で？定かじゃないけど。もー平気で1000ドル近くするんですよー。ビックリ！高いって言っても500ドルくらい？とか（いや、それでもムリだけど）思ってたら。でも友達Aちゃん曰く、あの工程＆設備にはそれぐらいかかるとのこと。

ここはやはり自分たちでデザインするしかないか…（ってか、アレックスが。私はアートディレクター役で。笑）　この図書カード風なのもかわいいし、このペーパータグはどこかには必ず使いたいなぁと思ってるんだけど。でも、これだけに全情報は収まらないからなぁ。急がねば・・・

真面目な話

今日はちょっと真面目に（いつもは？）。
昨日は午後早くにセレモニーのロケハン。今回はElysian parkをチェック。
結構気に入ったー。写真はまた今度。（カメラのリーダーがまだないので）

そして、その後は牧師さんのグレッグとコーヒーを。
ちなみに今回、これを日本語オンリーで書いているのは、私の考えや思いを英語で書いたときに本当の大事な繊細な思いが間違ってとられるといけないので。
アレックスはキリスト教を信仰しています。なので、式を挙げる際にはとても大事な牧師さん兼友人のグレッグにお願いしたいというのは常々思ってたみたい。私ももう何回も会っている人です。
私は特に信仰心というのはないし、アレックスがキリスト教を信仰していることを私自身とても大事なことだと思っているので、そのことについては大賛成！
そして、前もってアレックスからはグレッグに話をしていました。（それぞれの教会や宗派については話も長くなるので割愛しますが、とにかくグレッグは多分みんなが、というか日本人が特に想像する「牧師さん」というタイプではないんだろうなぁと思う。）
グレッグの考えとしては、片方がクリスチャン、片方が違う信仰を持つ場合今までは全て100%お断りしていたそう。
ですが、LAに来て（彼は3年前ミネソタから引っ越してきた）彼の中でもいろいろ考えが変わることもあり、何よりアレックスは大事な友人の一人だから、一度3人でコーヒーでも飲みながら話をしようということになりました。

はーー、緊張したー。何か面接みたい？なんて思って。でもグレッグは本当にいい人で大好きなアレックスのために（教会で最もセクシーなアレックスといつも呼んでいる　笑）どうするべきか、いろいろ考えたいとのことでこれから何回かこうやってコーヒーを飲みながら結婚について話をしていこうということになりました。ちなみにこれはクリスチャン同士の結婚の場合も結婚の日に向けてこういう風に話をするらしいけど。

とにかく私は信仰が特になく、日本人はそうである人がとりわけ多いということや、初詣には行くが結婚式は教会でやる人も多い。など、そういう日本で育ったということを話したり、どちらかというと無宗教というよりは、よく言えば何に対してもオープンであることとか。
ここで「宗教」というと日本人は基本的に拒否反応をおこす人が多いような気がする・・・仏教を宗教と呼ぶより仏教という風に呼ぶほうがやっぱりしっくりするし。みたいなことをアレックスに言ったら、「アメリカでもそういうところがあって、最近では宗教という言葉を使うより信仰という言葉使うほうが多いねー」って言ってた。なるほど。

で、今回1時間ほどいろーんな話をしたんだけどその間中なんだか私の涙腺緩みっぱなしで、涙こそ流さないよう頑張ったけどずっとウルウル。なんか理由はうまく言えないんだけど。
結婚が決まってから、式のこととかで頭一杯だったけど、改めて結婚するんだということを頭で考えて、自分の気持ちを人に言葉に出して伝えたり語ったりすることで改めてアレックスへの想いや結婚ということを噛み締めるという行為がすごく新鮮で、そして有難かった。
グレッグは前向きに考えてくれているようですが、まだYes Noというのは時間をかけて考えたいとのこと。こんなによくアレックスのことを、そして二人のことを考えてくれる人に立会人となってもらえるならば嬉しいなぁと思ってます。

Hello 2010!

2009 was a dramatic year for me (Kaori).
First off, as you all may already know, I was proposed to, of course :)
And, my mom visited me from all the way from Japan and she met Alex for the first time.
And, a project (new church) I have been working on last 3years (originally it started like 15years ago) finally started to construct (actually supposed to be completed by the end of 2009 tho...).
It was very very meaningful year for me.
By the way, I broke two digital cameras (two Canons) and lost one (Lumix) in 2009. Every camera I bought was less than 1 year! I think 2009 was a digital camera cursed year....
It is finally a time for using my "Fuji" semi-SLR. To be honest I don't know how to use this yet.
However, overall it was a great year for me, and loved it.
I could say 2009 was the best year for me :) I'm sure a better years are coming, like 2010?

For me, 2009 has been a great year as well: I didn't kill a single digial camera (hehe); I got to spend an entire year with my cute babe, from Jan 1 through Dec 31; we had a stellar time together at numerous day trips and mini-vacays; we both had our visa confirmed for - at least! - another three years (praise God!!!); I had a great run at work and packed up on all kind of skills; and, oh well, I was blessed to fall in love with my Kaori every single day again. Awwwwww! :)
Can't wait to see what 2010 brings for us! Wedding bands? Greencards? Babies?? Stay tuned.

2009年は激動（？）の年でした。
生まれて初めてプロポーズされたしー。ははー。
そしてデジカメ3台一気に壊した＆失くしたし。（2009年はデジカメと縁がなかったのだろう）
とにかく（？）良い年だったのだろう・・・
