Dry run for the cake

we had a dry-run of cake last night at our friend's place. we both love red velvet cakes she bakes and this is what she baked last night!

so pretty color~. super yummy. berries give a great umami-ness.（うまみ） i'm sure my japanese friends and family will love it! we also discussed about the decoration and got some awesome ideas :) can't wait to show you guys...

今日は私たちのウェディングケーキを作ってくれる友達の家で試食会をしました。私は基本的に甘いものがそんなに好きじゃないんだけど、本当にこのケーキはおいしいー。レッドベルベットは結構好きだし。そして、ベリーも入れてくれてたので、ホントにおいしかったよー。デコレーションのことや、サイズ・数量なんかについても話し合って、有意義な時間でした。彼女にはフォトブースも造ってもらうことになってるので、頭上がりません。　ケーキどんなデザインになるか楽しみ～。私たちの式に来られるみんなは、ケーキエリアを楽しみにしててねん。

since we really loved a cake my friend Voula baked at Kai's birthday, we asked her to bake our wedding cake. We kind felt bad, b/c we already asked a favor of her to make our "photobooth". But, she said "OK" :)) Thanks Voula!

I posted before that I liked the idea of cupcakes.... But I changed my mind. The cakes grab my heart these days are layered cakes, kind of rustic, county homemade style cakes.

And we will have pies as well, of course :)

ケーキー。どーしよーかなーと思ってたところ友達に頼んだら快く引き受けてくれた！良かった。この前誕生日で食べたレッドベルベットが超おいしかったから、あれを作ってもらおう。デザインはまた考えておいてと言われたので、こんなのいいかなーと思ってます。あとは、パイね。　でも、あんまり日本人ってご飯食べた後とかケーキとか食べられないよね？って、私だけかなー？

I thought I need some more stands...

スイーツ（日本ではこーやって言うんだよね？）バッフェっぽくしたいなぁと考えてます。ケーキスタンド安くても1個$20くらいするから、どーしよーかと思ってたらアレックスの教会に3つあった！ラッキー。まだ借りるお願いしてないけどね。

3段ウェディングケーキとかは全く考えてないんだけど、ケーキの上にのっかる新郎新婦（？）をどーしよーかなーと考え中。一番上のシンプルなのもかわいいし、2番目のもなんかコロコロしててかわいい。両方、ウェディングドレスとかスーツの色とか髪の毛、人種までカスタマイズしてくれるらしい。でも、この昭和チックなのもなんかレトロでいいなぁ。値段安いし。

I had no idea how much wedding cakes cost. I knew it wouldn't be cheap.
$3.50 per slice? or $5.00? They charge per slice? interesting.

Alex and I are thinking to go with "Cupcakes" (I know it has been popular for longest time already.)
Here's super rough list from each cupcakes shop websites.
Approximetely, mini cupcakes average is per $1.50, and regular size is $3.50, maybe?

こっちではここ何年かカップケーキが流行ってるようですが。
マジパンで固められたケーキよりこっちの方がおいしそー。見た目もかわいいし。
